Breeding Chinook Puppies
The first GreatMountain litter was born in 1999. We’ve produced 14 litters in our homes, supported 12 of our puppy owners to successfully raise litters, and our males have provided stud service resulting in more than 20 other litters of puppies.
Through these breedings, we’ve contributed to the birth of over 300 Chinooks.

Planning
Each breeding is carefully planned, taking into consideration health, temperament, and the structural strengths and challenges of the breeding pair. We track health, utilize DNA results, complete health assessments, and learn about the personality and structure of the dogs to get the right match.

Raising & Socializing Puppies
We are proud of the care we provide to puppies as they are developing, and we create socialization experiences to give them a foundation to serve them in their life.

Matching People with Puppies
We have met hundreds of wonderful people who provide homes our Chinook puppies. We take pride in providing ongoing support and guidance to our puppy owners, ensuring that our Chinooks are placed in loving and responsible homes. Above all else, we want each puppy to have a long, happy life in their forever home.
With each litter of puppies, we select a theme and puppy names associated with that theme. We give each puppy a name so people will know who we are referring to. Using a theme has been a fun and creative addition to puppy preparation and arrival. Prior themes have honored ancestors and those who have been important to our Chinook journey or they have paid tribute to different features of the natural world. (NOTE: Puppy owners select their puppies lifelong name, and we don't teach the puppies their puppy name in the first 8 weeks. As soon as we know a puppy's lifelong name, we begin using it with them.)
