Trav'ler was true to her name - a free spirit and the dog who was always leading the chase through the woods. She ran in large circles on our walks and continually demonstrated her natural athleticism, leaping over downed trees and gracefully running at full speed through thickly wooded lots. Trav’ler was a sensitive and gentle girl at home.

UKC Judge Betty Umberto selected Trav'ler as the Best Chinook Cross at the 2001 Chinook National Specialty.
Trav'ler inherited great qualities from Cheena and Duncan. She followed in the paw prints of her parents, grandparents and even great-grandparents as a hard-working sled dog. She was an honest working dog with high expectations of her fellow sled dogs. She ran in the wheel position for 9 years, pulling hard every time she wore a harness. Trav’ler took her last sled run of 5 miles at the age of 11 years. She did not want to retire.
Trav'ler lived on a Christmas tree farm. One year, we wrapped a tall balsam in a blue tarp with sled lines attached. We hooked up four younger dogs to pull the tree over the trail toward home. Positioned ahead of the team, I took photos of them hauling the huge tree. Trav’ler, age 13 by this time, was running free. She moved past the tree and alongside the 4-dog team pulling it, working her way through the sled lines til she was running between the two lead dogs, with their neckline stretched across her chest. She was an honest working dog.
We bred Trav'ler to GR CH Saghalie's Kaniksu Reign in 2004. Rainy was a strong sled dog, willing to work in any position in the team. Rainy pulled enthusiastically on the trail.

Rainy achieved in the conformation show ring, placing in the Top Ten in 2004. In his final conformation show, he became a UKC Grand Champion and went on to win the Northern Breed Group.
Our goals for the breeding were to combine Rainy’s strengths (straight and strong rear, good bone, broad head, good hip & testicle health) with Trav’lers strengths (good bone, good hip hip health, broad chest, strong drive and sweet personality).
